The following information becomes part and parcel of Invitation for Bid (IFB) #424-84-4-16 effective
this date. Firms must acknowledge receipt of this addendum in their solicitation response.
The listed items add to, modify, or otherwise alter the specifications and become part of the solicitation
documents. Where a portion of the original specifications are added to, modified, or also altered, the
portion not so affected shall remain. Firms may have the right to protest this addendum.
Updates to Scope of Work
Below is the updated scope of work for the project, this supersedes the original posting and the
solicitation document has been updated to reflect these changes.
I. General Information:
A. The Owner is the School District of Greenville County (District).
B. The Project Manager shall represent the Owner.
C. The Work is replacement of interior glass with security glass at locations
noted below as indicated in project documents:
1. AJ Whittenburg ES
2. Berea HS
3. Carolina HS
4. Eastside HS
5. Phinneze J Fisher MS
6. JL Mann HS
7. Lakeview MS
8. Riverside HS
9. Rudolph Gordon School
10. Travelers Rest HS
11. Wade Hampton HS
12. Woodmont HS
II. Project Documents:
A. SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Security Glass Specifications:
a. 1/4” (minimum) Laminated Security Glass, made up of the following elements:

i. 3mm of clear annealed glass, 0.76mm of a PVB interlayer and 3mm of clear annealed glass laminated into
one piece.
b. Security Glass shall comply with 16 CFR 1201, Category II
c. Security Glass shall comply with ASTM C 1172
d. Security Glass shall be permanently marked with certification label of the SGCC or another certification agency
acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. Label shall indicate
manufacturer’s name, type of glass, thickness, and safety glazing standard with which glass complies.
e. School Guard Glass TM shall not be provided as a substitute product
f. Childgard glass shall not be provided as a substitute product.
g. Surface applied film shall not be provided as a substitute solution.
h. ADD ALTERNATE: Armoured One 5/16” Shooter/Attack Resistant Security Glass, Non-Rated: AOTSG516.
i. Bidders requested to provide pricing (cost ADD) for using Armoured One glazing system at each location.
(See bid form.)
ii. All product and install requirements specific for Armoured One useglass shall apply per attached
Specification. shall applyincluding Armoured One thru bolt vision kits for door glass retrofits (see data
sheet)..

B. DRAWINGS (Phase I): See attached GCSD Security Glass Project Phase 1 Schools, Dated March 5, 2024.
Drawings are provided as part of this solicitation and may be found on the link below.

1. Drawings in this bid package consist of elevations of the different installation requirements and quantities. Note: Glass
dimensions shown are for reference only. Contractor is responsible for verifying opening size and total square footage based on
site conditions.
2. Floor plans of each school noting the location of the installations will be released to the successful contractor only.
III. Quality Assurance
A. Provide glazing systems produced by a manufacturer with not less than 5- years successful experience in the fabrication of
assemblies of the type and quality required.
B. Glazed systems shall be installed by a firm that has not less than 5-years successful experience in the installation of systems like
those required.
IV. Submittals
A. Product Data: Manufacturer’s data sheets of each product to be used, including:
1. Preparation instructions and recommendation.
2. Storage and handing requirements and recommendations.
3. Installation methods.
B. Glass Samples: Submit one 12”x12” sample for each type of glass to be
used
V. Scope of Work:
A. Complete installation of the new specified security glass in the locations
noted to include the following items:
1. New security glass of the type and sizes noted on the individual school drawings (Elevations and Floor Plans). Note: The floor
plans for the schools noted will only be released to the successful bidder, the bids will be based on the elevation drawings and
quantities for each size of glass.
2. New metal door glass light kits, to replace existing wood glass stops where noted on the elevation drawings.

3. Structural silicone as specified on each side of the glass stops (all
locations).
4. Demolition (removal) of the existing glass (to be removed from the
school site), and other misc. debris removal.
5. Clean up of the area in which the work has been performed.
VI. Warranty: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion
Manufacturers Special Warranty for Laminated Glass: Manufacturer agrees to replace laminated-glass units that deteriorate within
specified warranty period. Deterioration of laminated glass is defined as defects developed from
normal use that are not attributed to glass breakage or to maintaining and cleaning laminated glass contrary to manufacturer written
instructions. Defects include edge separation, delamination materially obstructing vision through glass, and blemishes exceeding those
allowed by referenced laminated-glass standard.
VII. Schedule:
A. Work is expected to be accomplished during Summer 2024 for all locations.
B. Summer hours: Monday through Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm, closed on Fridays from May 24 to July 26.
C. Summer schedule is as follows:
1. Last day for students – Wednesday May 22
2. Last day for teachers – Thursday May 23
3. Teachers return – August 1
4. Students return – August 8
D. Substantial completion is expected prior to teachers returning on August 1
E. Contractor may work non-school hours with approval from the Owner.
F. Contractor is responsible for arranging security coverage for access during non-school hours. Hourly rate shall be provided as part of this
pricing applicable to all locations (see bid form) with backup expected as part of invoicing package. If other than the below recommended
security company is to be used then it must be prior coordinated with GCS staff.

Project Timeline
This work will be completed according to Plans and Specifications, by July 31, 2024.
Please note: It is the Contractor’s responsibility to review the Specifications and Drawing for the detailed scope of work.
Contractor is also responsible for delivery, storage and unloading.
