Dry Ice Delivery Requirements
The University of Minnesota orders approximately 10,000 pounds of Dry Ice each week. U
Market Services is the central purchasing unit that processes the requests and sends
purchase orders to the vendor. Dry Ice is offered in variable Pellets or 25 pound Blocks.
Pellets are ordered and packaged in the following weights: 10lb, 15lb, 20lb, 25lb, and 30lb.
Orders are expected to be delivered to the end customers by the vendor unless the vendor
chooses to participate in the Last Mile of Delivery Program. U Market Services has the ability
to complete the Last Mile of Delivery for the vendor in some locations on campus. This
means the vendor will deliver the product to a designated distribution hub and the U
Market Services team will complete delivery to the end customer. This service is available
for a negotiated fee paid by the vendor.
There are three types of orders:
1. Standing Orders: regularly recurring orders
2. Special Order: one-off orders that are requested by end customers.
3. U Market Services Warehouse: Pellet refill for vendor supplied storage container
The following schedule outlines the University’s current delivery needs. The weights and
quantities listed below are based on orders placed each week and are a combination of
pellets and blocks. These are estimates, subject to change, and should not be considered
minimum or maximum order quantities.
