PROJECT NAME: Install Infrared Heaters, Bldg. 43
PROJECT LOCATION(S): Building 43
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 90 DAYS AFTER NOTICE TO PROCEED
PROJECT TYPE: Maintenance & Repair
Building 43 is a 29,884 sq. ft. vehicle maintenance building that is heated by a combination of
infrared tube heaters and direct fired make up air units. The west annex make up unit is not
configured correctly thus making it difficult to keep space temperature at set point.
UFC 3-410-01 Heating, Ventilating, And Air Conditioning Systems states for conditioned
heating in areas of high to moderate physical activity space temperature shall be 55°F dry bulb.
SCOPE OF WORK:
1. Install new infrared tube condensing heating system. System shall have (4) burners sized
at 100 mbh each. Provide gas regulator to provide a minimum of 100 cfh natural gas at
14" wg to each unit
2. Reconfigure operation of existing make up air unit (duo-aire model# aa5). Unit shall turn
on when existing exhaust fans in room 126 turn on to provide make up air.
3. Reconfigure duct work for MAU into space.
Site visit is scheduled for 28 July 2020 at 1:00 PM. Visitor information should be submitted to Kristin Schoeck at Kristin.Schoeck@dla.mil to request access to the installation. Masks are required to be worn on the installation.
BASE ACCESS PROCEDURES: To mitigate and lower the possible spread of COVID-19, Defense Supply Center Columbus base access procedures have been modified. Anyone entering the installation must maintain a protective barrier between themselves and the officer at the access control gate. Upon approaching the gate, drivers will stop and lower their window only 1-2 inches – or enough to communicate with the officer – and place Common Access Cards against the window with the barcode facing the officer. Once the barcode has been scanned, flip the CAC over so the officer can verify your photo. Once verified, you may proceed through the gate. In cases of tinted windows, you may be asked to lower the window enough to display the CAC. The new base access procedure will remain in effect until further notice. For questions, contact Security & Emergency Services at 614-692-5907.
PASS & ID PROCEDURAL CHANGES: Masks are required when entering the Pass and ID Office, Bldg 61. In order to concentrate efforts to make servicing DSCC personnel our number one priority, and to better ensure the health and safety of our Pass & ID personnel, we are no longer using the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler or taking walk-ins for Pass & ID services. DSCC personnel requiring these services should call 614-692-3023 and identify themselves as working on DSCC to schedule an appointment. New employees must also call to make appointments. We're asking organizations to not send over groups of new employees as we work to maintain a safe area for everyone. Additionally, Common Access Cards will not be renewed unless within 30 days of expiration in an effort to maintain social distancing and reduce foot traffic at the Pass & ID office and in accordance with guidance provided by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Initial issuance and replacement of lost, missing or failed CACs will be the only new CACs issued. If the cardholder's affiliation is unchanged, USID cards – which includes military family member IDs, civilian and military retiree IDs – which expired on or after Jan. 1 2020, will remain valid for benefits until Sept. 30, 2020. Appointments are still required and can be made by calling 614-692-3023 and identify themselves as working on DSCC. Emergency situations will be handled on a case by case basis. Pass & ID office hours remain 6:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 614-692-3023 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
