CLEANING LIFT/PUMPING STATIONS, CATCH BASINS AND CLEARING OF SEWER LINES AT JOINT BASE MCGUIRE/DIX/LAKEHURST, (JB MDL) LAKEHURST, NEW JERSEY



1.0. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:

The contractor shall provide all management, tools, supplies, equipment, and labor necessary to clean sewer lift/pumping stations, storm drain catch basins and clearing of sewer lines located at JB MDL, New Jersey.



1.1. CLEAN LIFT/PUMPING STATIONS:

The contractor shall clean the designated lift stations to remove all debris. The contractor shall remove all debris from the lift station site after each pumping. The maximum quantity the contractor shall remove from each lift station shall not exceed 5,000 gallons per station, with the annual maximum quantity not to exceed 25,000 gallons from all stations. The contractor shall pump five (5) lift stations bi-annually, as directed by the CO/COR. The contractor shall be required to service the pumping stations during the time of low flow (i.e. after normal working hours, weekends). The contractor shall provide Ocean County Utility Authority (OCUA) dumping receipts, vehicle usage receipts and a lift station condition report to the CO/COR within 24 hours of performance of the work. This report shall include the lift stations cleaned and state any difficulties encountered in the performance of the work.



1.2. CLEAN CATCH BASINS:

The CO/COR will designate which catch basins are to be cleaned and pumped, and will provide the contractor 48 hours-advanced notice prior to requesting performance. The contractor shall remove the entry grate from each catch basin and/or clean out, remove all debris from the interior of basins and inside all pipes for a distance of three (3) feet. The contractor shall be responsible for cleaning the area of all unsightly debris. A report shall be submitted to the CO/COR on the following workday, listing each catch basin where work has been completed. No catch basin shall be left open without a workman being on site. All debris removed from the basins and piping shall be removed to an area onboard the station, as directed by the CO/COR. The contractor shall provide impermeable ground sheets and covers to properly contain and protect the material from the weather. All covers shall be secured to prevent loss. The finding of any condition that inhibits the flow of water through systems shall be reported to the CO/COR on the following workday.



1.3. PROVIDE NON-RECURRING CLEARING OF SEWER LINES AND SEPTIC SYSTEMS:

The contractor shall provide non-recurring clearing of sewer lines by either mechanical cutting procedures or by chemical means. The contractor shall remove all debris from the site after each clearing.



1.4. PROVIDE NON-RECURRING PUMPING OF SEPTIC TANKS, SEEPAGE PITS, CESSPOOLS, MANHOLES AND LIFT STATIONS:

The work shall consist of pumping down to the bottom and removal of accumulated debris from the sides, as directed by the CO/COR. A minimum of 1,000 gallons will be ordered when requesting service.



1.5. PROVIDE NON-RECURRING SEWER JET SERVICES:

On occasion, the need for a specifically configured sewer jet shall be required to perform contract-related tasks, including but not limited to jetting sewer lines, additional washing down of lift stations and various pits/manholes.



1.6. PROVIDE NON-RECURRING DRUMS AND CONTAINERIZE CONTAMINATED DEBRIS FROM CATCH BASINS:

As directed by the CO/COR, the contractor shall drum materials removed from catch basins that are contaminated with oils, grease, foreign material, and shall deliver the drums to the JBMDL Lakehurst Hazardous Waste Material compound, Bldg. 343. The contractor shall provide the drums.
