EVALUATION: Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible offeror in accordance
with Anchorage Municipal code Section 7.20.070, preference will be given to local offerors applied in
accordance with Section 7.20.040.
DELIVERY TIME
The Municipality requires delivery of all items as soon as possible. The Municipality’s required delivery
date is 30 of days after receipt of order (ARO). Any bid indicating a delivery date which exceeds 30
days after receipt of order (ARO) will be considered non-responsive

Double Jacket Municipal Fire Hose
(SIZE: 1 ¾”, 2½” and 3”)
SCOPE: The fire hose manufactured to this specification is intended for the
rigorous environment of the municipal fire fighting service. The double-jacket, all
synthetic reinforced design shall incorporate a high strength thermoplastic liner
and shall have an Acceptance Test of 800# PSI.

SERVICE LIFE: The hose provided under these specifications shall have a
service life of not less than 10 years, barring mistreatment or accidental damage,
such as would render the hose unfit for service. When delivered, the hose shall
be in first class condition.
QUALITY: The fire hose supplied under this specification shall be a premium
quality, abrasion resistant, double jacket, lightweight municipal grade fire hose
designed for ease of maintenance and handling. Each length shall be coupled
and tested at the point of manufacture to eliminate divided responsibility for
quality. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Hose shall be manufactured after receipt of order.
The quality of the coupled hose assemblies shall be validated during the 100%
hydrostatic testing procedures, as well as through physical laboratory testing
methods. A quality control procedure system shall be maintained by the
manufacturer and shall be available for inspection and audit by the purchasing
authority. When requested at the time of the order placement, hydrostatic test
reports of the coupled hose assemblies shall be provided to the purchaser.
These records shall be preserved on file for a period of five years.
Physical tests shall be made to determine lining tensile strength – not less than
3000 PSI; elongation – minimum of 400%. Adhesion rate between liner and
inside jacket separation rate of not greater than 1” per minute at a weight of 12

lbs. Shore hardness of the lining shall not exceed 40 durometer on the D scale.
Accelerated aging shall be determined by the ASTM D 573 test method.
HYDROSTATIC TEST: Hose shall be tested in accordance with NFPA 1961
latest edition and ASTM-D380. The manufacturer shall provide a certified copy
of the test results.
DESTRUCTIVE BURST TEST: This test shall be in accordance with NFPA
1961, latest edition. In no case shall the random lot burst test be less then 1200
PSI.
JACKET CONSTRUCTION: The warp yarns and filler yarns shall be adequate
in number and size to meet all hydrostatic requirements of these specifications.
The warp yarns shall be ENTANGLED FILAMENT (6-6 NYLON) PLOYAMIDE.
NO EXCEPTIONS.
OUTER JACKET: The outside and inside jacket fit is critical to the finished
hose. After initial pressure proof test, there shall be no excess outer jacket
bagginess.
OUTER JACKET COATING:
1 ¾”, 2 ½” and 3” hose - Color: YELLOW. Each outside jacket must be
impregnated by a mechanical process to provide total saturation of a protective
coating compound. The protective coating shall be heat set at temperatures of
not less than 250 degrees F. Coating that are applied at ambient or set at low
temperatures are not acceptable.
LINING CONSTRUCTION: The inner lining shall be a single ply
POLYURETHANE EXTRUSION, and shall be unaffected by ozone deterioration.
NO EXCEPTIONS.
SPECIAL HIGH FLOW/LOW FLOW FRICTION LOSS FEATURES: The inner
jacket shall be composed of a unique REVERSED TWILL WEAVE design to
provide an extremely smooth bore. NO EXCEPTIONS.
COUPLING: Couplings shall be of the extruded aluminum hardcoat, rocker lug,
beveled design. When the couplings is made up snugly, the swivel gasket shall
not be compressed to project beyond the coupling inside surface.
Special marking on coupling shall be provided as requested by the Anchorage
Fire Department. The rigid part of the female coupling will be stamped with not
less than ¼” numbers. Numbers shall be a 5 digit series provided by the
Anchorage Fire Department. Example: 19-001. Numbers shall start at 19-001.
