The Chesapeake Bay Trust has issued an RFP for its Environmental Education Grant Program, which awards funding to expand and enhance Chesapeake Bay environmental education programs in Maryland.

Through the program, CBT seeks to improve environmental stewardship by providing grants that build and/or expand pre-K through 12 environmental literacy programs using the Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) model. MWEEs are investigations into local environmental issues that include both learning in the classroom and learning outdoors and culminate in students addressing their issue through action projects in their community. In an effort to increase student engagement, academic achievement, and environmental stewardship, MWEEs incorporate a number of best environmental education and education practices.

Applicants may request from $5,001 to $40,000 a year for three years (the maximum award total is $120,000 over the years 2018-2021). The trust anticipates making one or two multiyear awards. Applicants can submit two- and three-year requests, but all applicants for multiyear requests must talk with trust staff prior to formulating a proposal.

Single-year requests: Applicants may request $5,001 to $40,000 for the grant period running from March 2018 to August 2019. The trust anticipates making six to ten awards in this category.

See the CBT website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
