The University and the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) is in the process of enhancing its joining and fabrication research capability to undertake welding, brazing, hard-facing and Additive Manufacturing (AM) through the use of laser heat sources identified as process 52 within ISO 4063. The use of laser systems will complement the existing arc welding hardware to offer a suite of processing opportunities capable of achieving a range of power densities needed to address the increasing complexity of components required for the high-value manufacturing sector. This opportunity serve as an invitation to tender for the supply of a Laser Welding Cell. This contract opportunity has not been divided into Lots due to its technical nature. We are open to submissions from a sole supplier or a supplier with sub-contacting arrangements for either the supply of the laser or the enclosure.

Coventry University has incorporated a 10 calendar day standstill period following the date the award oft he framework was communicated to tenderers. This period allowed unsuccessful tenderers to seek further debriefing from the contracting authority before the contract was entered into.

If any appeal regarding the award of a contract has not been successfully resolved the Public Contracts Regulations 2016 (as amended) provide for aggrieved parties who have been harmed or are at risk of harm via breach of the rules to take action in the High Court (England, Wales and Northern Ireland). Any such action must be brought promptly (generally within 3 months). Where a contract has not been entered into the Court may order the setting aside of the award decision or order the authority to amend any document and may award damages. If the contract has been entered into the Court may only award damages.
