The Library of Congress (Library) has a requirement for all labor, materials, and coordination services to provide the Holiday Tree to include the tree, decorations, installation, maintainance, and removal, in the Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington D.C.
The Library Holiday Tree holds significant importance in the yearly celebrations of the Capitol Hill complex. The origins of this tradition can be traced back to the early years of the Jefferson building.
This decades-old tradition is a testament to the richness of history and symbolism it carries. Notably, the decorations adorning the tree are handcrafted by state libraries, imbuing the tree with a sense of library community and delight. It serves as a meaningful representation of the holiday spirit shared by both the Library of Congress and the Capitol Complex visitors.
