The Maritime Administration’s (MARAD) Maritime Environmental and Technical Assistance (META) program is issuing this request for proposals (RFP) for conducting a study comparing the underwater radiated noise (URN) signals from two ferries operating in a shallow water, nearshore environment in Portland, Maine. The objective of the study will be to compare URN emissions from a ferry currently operating with diesel propulsion versus a new-build, replacement ferry operating on battery electric propulsion in the same environmental conditions (route, season, purpose).
