Description

THIS CATTLE GUARD REPLACEMENT CONTRACT LOCATED WITHIN THE SAN JUAN NATIONAL FORESTS IS INTENDED TO REPLACE NON-FUNCTIONAL CATTLE GUARDS ACROSS THE DOLORES AND COLUMBINE RANGER DISTRICTs (SEE ATTACHED ROAD LISTING). CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PURCHASING AND INSTALLING CATTLE GUARD BASES, RUNNING SURFACES AND WINGS AS WELL AS DISPOSING OF THE REMOVED MATERIAL OFF OF FEDERAL LAND. BEDDING MATERIAL AND APPROACH AGGREGATE WILL BE REQUIRED WITH EACH CATTLE GUARD. MINOR FENCE WORK MAY BE REQUIRED TO TIE THE RANGE ALLOTMENTS INTO THE WINGS. TRAFFIC CONTROL WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR WITH DELAYS NOT EXCEEDING ½ HOUR.





TERRAIN ACROSS THE FOREST VARIES BETWEEN FLAT MESA TOPS AND STEEP WINDING MOUNTAIN ROADS. THE MAJORITY OF THIS WORK WILL OCCUR ON GRAVEL SURFACED LEVEL 3 AND 4 ROADS AS DEFINED IN FSH 7709.58, 12.3. ALL PROJECTS CAN BE REACHED WITHIN A TWO HOUR DRIVE FROM DURANGO, COLORADO. TYPICAL OPERATING SEASON IS MAY 1 – NOV. 30. OPERATIONS SHALL AVOID FREEZE THAW CONDITIONS AND TIMING SHOULD BE APPROVED BY THE CO.
