Description

The Long-Baseline Neutrino Facilities (LBNF) Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) Project will provide facilities to enable a world-class program in neutrino physics that can measure fundamental physical parameters, explore physics beyond the Standard Model, and better elucidate the nature of matter and anti-matter. Specifically, the LBNF/DUNE-US Project will build a new high-intensity neutrino beam at Fermilab aimed at the LBNF Far Site, SURF, 1,300 km away; the associated DUNE Project will build neutrino detectors at Fermilab and SURF. The experiment will be optimized for precision measurement of neutrino oscillations with the goal of searching for charge parity-violation in the neutrino sector, as well as making other precision oscillation measurements. The Near Site Conventional Facilities (NSCF) provides the new service buildings, underground enclosures, utilities, roads, hardstands, and other conventional facilities features needed for operation of the LBNF Beamline and DUNE Near Detector.

This requirement is for the NSCF Near Detector Complex and is comprised of the following elements:

1. Site Work

Site Work includes new utilities and roads, mass earthwork, and other site improvements necessary to accommodate the LBNF Near Detector Complex enclosures and buildings.

2. Near Detector Complex

The Near Detector Complex is sited near the Fermilab property limits in the path of the neutrino beam and comprises a Service Building (LBNF-40) at the surface and Near Detector Hall (NDH) an underground detector cavern excavated in rock. The NDH and LBNF-40 are connected by two shafts that allow access for equipment, LBNF/DUNE-US Near Detector will be provided and installed by the DUNE experiment after beneficial occupancy.

To be put on the list of Offerors to receive an RFP, please email Brian Quinn, bquinn@fnal.gov.

This solicitation is expected to be released in May/June 2024. NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE SOLICITATION IS RELEASED.
