Description
The United States Geological Survey (USGS), Office of Acquisition and Grants, Reston Branch,
has a requirement for Internet service for the Goodwin Office, East Hartford CT.

The USGS New England Water Science Center (WSC) in East Hartford, CT, supporting the Water Mission Area (WMA) requests 1000 Mbps symmetrical fiber dedicated internet access service from a commercial telecommunications provider.

WSC employees require fast and reliable access to the internet to conduct essential business and science activities in support of the mission of the USGS Water Mission Area (WMA). The WSC continues to grow in program and staff and has experienced poor network performance due to the increased demand of data processing and collaboration platforms. A reliable network connection with sufficient bandwidth is needed to provide secure and efficient access to the WAN to conduct mission essential functions.

The proposed internet access solution would provide the service connection for a planned ESN LAN-to-LAN (L2L) service at this site, and provides the bandwidth needed now and into the foreseeable future to support the science activities conducted in the WSC. Additionally, the solution aligns with elements of DOI's Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) initiative to increase efficiencies in network architecture.
