The Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is requesting information pertaining to the procurement of airless, 14” wheel, sine wave flotation traction caster wheels, P/N MILCAST14, OEM Shark Wheel Company. These wheels will be used for Support Equipment (SE) at United States Marine Corps expeditionary sites to improve traction across unimproved and unpacked terrain. These wheels improve the float of the wheel across unpacked ground, avoiding deep ruts from forming which will burden the SE movement.

The Government is requesting information on the availability of Sine Wave Innovative and Flotation Traction (SWIFT) wheels, P/N MILCAST14, OEM Shark Wheel Company.

Nominal requirements for the SWIFT wheels are:

1. 14” Diameter


2. 4.50” Nominal Width


3. Operate on both improved and unimproved surfaces


4. Ability to be manually propelled and towed up to 10 MPH under 500 LBS load per wheel


5. 1,500 LBS Safe Working Load per wheel


6. Airless (non-pneumatic) construction

The purpose of the request for information is to identify potential contractors capable of building this product. It is the Government’s intent to procure up to 8 SWIFT wheels (P/N MILCAST14) from the original manufacturer or certified US distributer of the wheels.
