The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS RESEARCH INSTITUTE, INC.
The purpose of the project is to provide NCCDPHP with the Esri data to update estimates on childhood obesity following previous methodology. A 2007 study provided nationwide small-area estimates (SAEs) of childhood obesity using a geocoded national health survey in a multilevel modeling framework to estimate prevalence of childhood obesity at the Census Block-Group level across the United States. This approach requires high spatial resolution population demographic and socioeconomic data. Following previously developed methodology, lifestyle and urbanization levels are used from the 2010 ESRI Tapestry Segmentation dataset for prediction models. The ESRI segmentation methodology incorporates sociodemographic, geographic, and physical features (eg, population density, city size, metropolitan status, proximity to economic and social centers) into community lifestyle and urbanization classifications.
