The C-17 Program Management Office has a requirement that is for a firm-fixed price contract for two (2) each NSN: 5120-01-244-1248, Wrench, Spanner, 3/4" Drive - MLG Axle Nut, P/N 17G13003-1, which includes one First Article, one First Article Test Plan, and one First Article Test Report. Each main landing gear (MLG) axle nut incorporates external threads and is screwed into threads in the end of the axle. The nut retains the outer bearing, which positions and retains the wheel. The nut must be removed for service of the wheel, tire, bearings or brakes. After installation, the nut must be torqued to the level required for bearing preload. A device is required to adapt a 3/4" drice torque wrench to the axle nut, for removal and replacement of the nut at torques up to 300 ft-lb. The device shall incorporate two square keys to engage the .375" square holes located 180 deg apart. The keys shall extend from the device slightly less than the .400" min depth of the holes in the nut. The O.D. of the device shall be approx 5.15", to correspond with the O.D. of the nut. The MLG axle nut 3/4" drice spanner wrench P/N 17G130003-1 is recommended to fulill the requirements of this functional analysis. Delivery is FOB Destination with shipments in the continental United States. This requirement will be solicited as an 8(a) direct award. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. The Government will utilize the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS), Excluded Parties List System (EPLS), and other Government databases to determine contractor status before evaluating proposals. Proposals will be evaluated based on the criteria stated in the RFQ. All data for this weapon system is considered EXPORT CONTROLLED. It is anticipated that the RFQ will be released on or around 1 March 2024.
