The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to solicit and negotiate a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed-Price Order with the large business Abbott Laboratories. The procurement is for a service contract to cover product maintenance, software upgrades, technical support, loaner systems, and technical user training for the Abbott Optis. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811210. This service is necessary to ensure reliable and accurate operation of this equipment. Abbott Laboratories is the manufacturer and sole supplier of all services and service-related material, including parts. Because the OEM does not have any authorized distributors for this required service, this procurement is limited to one source in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) Soliciting from a Single Source, as no other supplies will satisfy the Agency s requirement. The anticipated award date: May 01, 2024.

This notice satisfies the requirement at FAR 5.201(b)(1), to publicize the proposed contract action. This will be the only notice of the Government s intent to solicit, negotiate, and award to one source to satisfy this requirement.
