At the request of the Office of the Chief Statistician of the United States in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics (NCSES) within the National Science Foundation would like to convene a 1½ to 2-day workshop on “Approaches for Assessing and Communicating the Quality of National Statistical Data.” The workshop will include presentations and discussion by experts from multiple countries who will discuss their quality frameworks for national statistics and statistical data, how national statistics are designated or certified and communicated to policymakers and the public, and requirements for regular or periodic evaluations. In addition, there will be discussion of the mechanisms different countries have for recognizing/designating and communicating about preliminary estimates or experimental statistics, especially those that involve using fast response surveys, and alternative data sources, including crowd-sourced or sensor data, or blending survey data with other data, such as administrative records.
