This RFI for The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT), John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) is for information and planning purposes only. The market research information collected resulting from this Sources Sought Notice will be used to identify qualified sources capable of providing the supplies outlined in the attached RFI document.
The anticipated NAICS Code is 336510 – Railroad Rolling Stock Manufacturing. The Small Business Size Standard for this NAICS Code is 1500 Employees.
The notice does not constitute a solicitation for bid, quotation, or proposal, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The information provided is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for, or award a competitive contract. The Government will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of response to this Sources Sought notice.

Description
The Volpe Center is providing program management support including engineering and locomotive acquisition to address critical transportation issues in the U.S. Army. In particular, the Volpe Center is seeking a solution for replacing aged and obsolete locomotives with modern locomotives offering a similar design but with enhanced electronics, modern controls, and low emissions. Information on zero-emission or near-zero emission locomotives is welcomed. Please see attachment to this sources sought notice for more information.

Only those Responders that can meet the following criteria should respond to this Sources Sought Notice:
