NTDP has been tasked by the Fire and Aviation Management (FAM) program of the Forest Service to evaluate fossil fuels-based power use at Incident Command Posts (ICPs) and identify opportunities to transition to more sustainable operations. ICPs, fire camps, and satellite camps use fossil-fuel-powered generators to produce electricity and support fire camp operations in situations where established grid-tied power supplies are unavailable. Fire camps are generally modular.
