Sandia National Laboratories invites your organization to join our proposal to establish a National Consortium for the Advancement of LDES (Long Duration Energy Storage) Technologies. This National Consortium will provide a forum to enable stakeholders across the LDES ecosystem to convene & identify barriers, determine potential synergies, and collaboratively develop & implement strategies necessary to achieve commercialization for a wide range of LDES technologies within the next decade. The output will be a comprehensive plan for LDES commercialization that can be offered to diverse states & regions, markets, communities, and end-use customers.
If funded through the Department of Energy’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Technology Commercialization Fund “DE-LC-000L002: Collaborative Alignment for Critical Technology Industries,” this consortium will be led by six national laboratories and will include a broad range of stakeholder organizations. By actively participating in this National Consortium, your organization will have a forum to offer a unique perspective on key issues related to LDES commercialization.
Teaming Partners will play a critical role in this National Consortium by helping to define the key questions, issues, and outcomes that the National Consortium must address to support the commercialization of LDES technologies. Teaming Partners will participate directly in break-out “Tiger Teams” that will address challenges in several areas including, but not limited to: 1) Grid Infrastructure; 2) Technology Development & Testing; 3) Use Case Development; 4) Policy, Economics & Valuation; 5) Investor Confidence; 6) Interconnection, Standards & Permitting; 7) Demonstrations & Deployments; 8) Utility Resource Planning; 9) Customer Adoption; 10) Microgrid Resilience; 11) Safety & Grid Security; and 12) Market Planning.
Specific requirements are as follows:
1. Interest, experience, and/or expertise in long-duration energy storage.
2. Expected contribution to the creation of consensus-based organizing principles that will enable and streamline collaboration between public and private entities.
3. Capable of providing In-Kind Cost Share in the form of time attending Consortium and Tiger Team meetings.
4. Completion of a non-binding Letter of Commitment stating the Teaming Partner’s estimated anticipated level of participation by indicating a Cost-Share Contribution Amount.
