Amendment 0001 is issued to answer questions received about the solicitation.
Q1. Is there a way to access the Project without going through private property? We have an employee trying to find and look at the Project, but all the access we have found so far to the Project is behind locked gates.
A1. The project is on top of Isles and Duffy Mountain. There is good access off CR 17 and across the BLM land. A travel map is attached to this amendment to help with the confusion and locked gates. The map outlines the road system to come in on BLM and stay on BLM land. Q2. We are looking for an estimate amount of trees per acre using spacing standards for the Juniper trees in the area. Would you know the approximate amount of trees included in the 511 acres for this project or the average spacing where we would be able to calculate an amount per acre?
A2. As far as the amount of trees per acre it varies a lot in the polygons. This project is 90% class 1 pinyon juniper stands and 10% class 2. Class 1 stands have a low density of smaller trees. Class two stands are more dense and a little bit larger. The majority of vegetation in the polygons is grass and sage which doesn't need to be treated. We have no idea on the trees per acre, an offeror would have to drive out and count.
Q3. Your specs do not state "Rubber tire" or "Track" mounted mulchers. (Vendor) runs all track mounted units. These units include Prinoth Raptor 500, Timber Pro , JD, and Bobcat units with assorted mulcher heads. Our question is are these units acceptable for work on this or other contracts in your area?
A3. Rubber tire or tracked is fine.
Q4. After a large amount of time spent in the area of the work we noted the sage grouse habitat being extensive. Even though it is not listed in the SOW, are there considerations for restoring sage grouse habitat after the mastication? The fuel reduction efforts, equipment and general presence would have large impacts on those areas and habitats. I would like to factor in the restoration and biological survey after the mastication but do not wish to be considered not technically acceptable by making additional SOW lines of efforts. May we include restoration?
A4. The project is intended to maintain sage grouse habitat, and that is one of the reasons we are treating the area. We have our own Wildlife biologist, and will be seeding the area after the project as well. This contract is just for masticating pinyon and juniper.
Q5. I was looking at comparable pricing for similar projects and found sol 140L3723Q0086 - awarded for $71,760. Was this work comparable and completed fully?
A5. This project is very comparable to that project and has been completed.
Q6. Please provide a kml, kmz or imagery pdf map.
A6. A KMZ file is included with this amendment
