NOTICE TO GENERAL CONTRACTORS
REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS
The Bar Harbor School Department will pre-qualify General Contractors to bid on the
new Conners Emerson School construction project located in Bar Harbor, Maine. The Bar
Harbor School Department will provide the review and approval of acceptable
qualifications.
The locally funded project consists of the construction of a new PreK-8th grade school
building, approximately 100,000 square feet on the site of the current Conners Elementary
School and Emerson Middle School in Bar Harbor, Maine. The project includes site
improvements, and demolition of the existing school upon completion of the new school
building. Estimated project construction cost is $49,000,000.
Interested General Contractors are required to complete a Pre-Bid Qualification
Application in order to receive the construction documents and participate in the bidding
process.

Direct questions via email only to Michael Zboray, Superintendent of Schools
mzboray@mdirss.org. The application must be completed and submitted electronically
to: mzboray@mdirss.org on or before Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. A
confirmation of receipt will be sent. Applications received after this deadline will not be
accepted.

Bidding Documents prepared by Harriman will be available to pre-qualified General
Contractors no earlier than May 10, 2024, with a Notice to Proceed anticipated in
Spring/Summer 2024 and Building Substantial Completion by mid-Summer 2026.
Bid Document information will be provided in subsequent legal advertisements and BGS
website postings.
