  • Summary Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE), through the Shared Services & Business Operations Division, is seeking proposals to provide specific deliverables aimed at providing digestible public health data related to the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

To improve overall health outcomes for Denver residents, DDPHE identifies and addresses health disparities across the City and County of Denver. Foundational to identifying health disparities and improving overall health outcomes are a Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). The primary objective of the CHA is to comprehensively gauge and assess the health landscape of Denver.

The CHA workgroup at DDPHE is tasked with assessing public health trends to craft strategic interventions aimed at reducing health disparities. This project fulfills the overall objective of the CHA and CHIP to provide digestible public health data through visuals to Denver residents.

The project has the following specific deliverables due by October 1, 2024:

  • Develop the following:
    • Comprehensive visuals for various social determinants of health topics (e.g., health, socioeconomic status, environmental factors, etc.) with descriptive statistics (e.g., prevalence, count, or incidence) at the census tract level within Denver, Colorado, and U.S. rates, with a margin of error for Denver;
    • Documentation of measure definition, sources, methods; and
    • Brief narrative on patterns and findings

Registered with CO Secretary of State; not been de-barred and must have (or be able to have) a certificate of non-debarment and federal UEI #; public and private organizations or institutions who meet qualifications of the program (e.g., nonprofits, private companies, academic institutions, etc.)

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and skills in PowerBI, R or Python, R Shiny, and ArcGIS.
  • Strong analytical research skills.
  • Excellent communication and report writing abilities, including experience communicating complex findings in easy-to-understand and aesthetically pleasing formats.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiar with secondary public health data (BRFSS, American Community Survey, etc.).
  • Familiar with basic public health concepts, including social determinants of health, health equity, etc.
