Contract Description:
The Milwaukee County Zoo in partnership with Gilbane
Building Company will be renovating and expanding the
existing Humboldt Penguin Exhibit located at the main
entrance of the Zoo. This project will consist of a pool
expansion from the existing 10,000 gallons increasing in
size to 30,000 gallons (approx.). Included in this expansion
is full 100% replacement/upgrade of Life Support System
for increased water circulation/purification, increased visitor
themed viewing experience (large viewing window) and the
incorporation of shade structures for life betterment of the
penguins.

INDICATED IN INVITATION TO BID.
Bidder's attention is called to the "Notice of Requirements
for Affirmative Action to Ensure Equal Employment
Opportunity" (Executive Order 11246), contained in the Bid
Documents, which set forth, in part, goals and timetables
for the employment of women and minorities in the project
area.

PRIME CONTRACTORS SHALL BE QUALIFIED PRIOR
TO SUBMITTING A BID IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CHAPTER 43 OF MILWAUKEE COUNTY ORDINANCE. A
Contractor Qualification Statement must be submitted no
less than five (5) days before Bid Closing date in order to
qualify to submit a Bid on the Project. Please see
Document 00 21 13 Article 14 of the Front End
Specifications.
SPECIAL BID SUBMITTALS
There are additional minimum qualifications for this Project.
Please see Document 00 21 13 INSTRUCTIONS TO
BIDDERS Article 16 Special Bid Submittals of the Front
End Specifications.
Bidders shall submit the completed Subcontractor-Supplier
Information Entry with the Bid. Failure to submit this
information with Bid may result in rejection of the Bid as
non-responsive.
A 10 percent bid bond or certified check is required with
bid.

later than 12 P.M., December 8th, 2023.
The lowest qualified, responsible, responsive bidder will be
recommended for contract award. Owner reserves right to
reject bid, to waive informalities in bid or to accept bid
which will be in best interest of Owner.
Milwaukee County project bid summary results will be
posted on the Bid Express site and Milwaukee County web
site at www.county.milwaukee.gov. Bid summary results
may be available a few hours following the Bid Due Date
time.
Base Bid shall remain open to acceptance for a period of
60 days after bid due date.
Contractors shall employ a minimum of 50% of the Contract
labor force with employees that reside in Milwaukee County
with exceptions to bid packages 06B,13A, and 22B.
