Description of Goods or Services to Be Bid: This Contract requires the performance of all Work necessary to furnish and install equipment for upgrading the Asynchronous Fiber Optic Network (AFON) that is presently used to provide network connectivity between substations, private branch exchanges (“PBX”) and Data centers (collectively, MTA’s “E-Ring”) located on the MTA network in the Boroughs of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. Upgrade to AFOM shall utilize Connection Oriented Ethernet (COE) technology on MTA’s E-Ring. Contractor shall furnish new COE switches to replace existing Asynchronous network equipment, new layer 2/3 data network switches (L2/L3 Switch) to provide network connectivity and interface to existing network via existing network switches. This is an A+B Type Bidding contract.
