The individual or firm selected will provide professional engineering services related to the Water Transmission Main System. The goal of the study is to identify deficiencies, system needs and recommend upgrades to aged water transmission main infrastructure. The project outcome will be a study document that identifies deficiencies and conditions that need repair and renovation. The general components of the study will include: the 18-mile transmission line from Guilderland to Watervliet including the holding reservoir in Colonie. The study will provide the ability to prioritize needs and develop strategies to repair the infrastructure before possible catastrophic failure of any part of the system can occur. The General Manager will work with and direct the Engineer on priorities and components to focus on for review. The study will be the template for future infrastructure capital improvements projects, project grants and upgrades and modernization of the system.

The services provided by the individual or firm selected may include, but may not be limited to the following services:

• Review of the water system transmission line and holding reservoir
• Identification and description of transmission main deficiencies, system needs and recommend repairs and upgrades.
• Focus too on the operation and repair and maintenance needs of the holding reservoir structure and connecting piping.
• Prepare draft report for review by the city.
• Provide construction cost estimate of any proposed improvements.
• Prepare final report, furnish 3 copies to the city (include 1 electronic PDF copy)
