Sealed competitive bids for a Single Axle Class 6, 4x4 Dump Truck will be
received at the office of the Town Manager, 77 Main Street, Middlebury, VT
05753 until 11:00 AM, January 26, 2024.
The Town of Middlebury, VT reserves the right to waive any
informalities, reject any and all bids, or to accept any bid deemed to
be in the best interest of the Town.

The Town of Middlebury is seeking bids for a new Single Axle Class 6 4x4 Dump Truck, Bid #
20240105-1. The following specifications describe requirements for the quality and type of equipment
to be furnished. The intent of the detailed specifications is not to restrict manufacturers but to
give guidance to the town’s minimum requirements. Where the bid deviates from these minimum
specifications, bidder shall note the deviation in their bid:
SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL:
• Maximum 26,000 GVW (no CDL required)
• 2024 model year or current model year if not available
• Single axle
• 165”” wheelbase
• Include pricing for any optional SS or aluminum chassis configurations
DRIVETRAIN:
• 370hp or greater
• 3000 series Allison transmission with pto provisions
• Minimum 16,000lb set back front drive axle with heavier right spring
• Minimum 23,000lb Chalmers style rear axle
• Multi Leaf front spring
• Front and rear driver-controlled traction differential with indicator lights
• Heavy duty rear suspension
• Air brakes
WHEELS:
• Aluminum front and rear rims
TIRES:
• Michelin or Goodyear traction tread front tires
• Michelin or Goodyear traction tread rear tires
EXTERIOR:
• Gunmetal grey or similar in color
• Cold weather package to include engine block heater, heated front windshield and heated
mirrors
• Aluminum fuel tanks
• Aluminum grab handles
• Auxiliary lamps on back of cab
• Side mirrors mounted on front hood
• Front hood visor
• Sun visor
• LED marker lights
• Hood access door if available
• Additional passenger view window for wing visibility if available
• Trailer connectors plumbed to rear of chassis
INTERIOR:
• Vinyl floor
• Floor mats
• Tilt/power steering
• Power windows
• Power heated mirrors
• Premium high back seat with 3 position air lumbar and dual armrests
• CB & antenna (wired)
• AM/FM/WB tuner Radio, Bluetooth compatible
• Instrument gauge package
• Internal battery box with power disconnect switch located in cab on driver’s side
• Minimum of 6 outfitter switches in cab
WARRANTY:
• Truck shall be equipped with a 84 month/100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty
• Truck shall be equipped with a 84 month/100,000 mile powertrain warranty
• Provide any available extended warranty options and costs
BIDS SHALL INCLUDE:
• Manufacturers catalogs, operating manuals and specifications
• Detailed warranty coverages
• Build time and delivery schedule from date of order
• Provide detailed information on emissions package and any available fuel efficiency options
along w/pricing (i.e. hybrid, electric, biodiesel, etc., and/or additional emission filtering
options/add-ons)
• Trade-in value for model year 2014 international class 6 single axle 4x4 Dump Truck with
plow package including front dustpan with wing and 10’ side dump body (viewable by
appointment at 1020 US Route 7 South)
The 2014 International Truck will not be available for trade-in until a require post-purchase body build-
out (by others) for snow operations is completed on the new truck.
Special consideration will be given for Hybrid and EV model trucks (submit as separate bid).
Bids are due on January 26, 2024 by 11:00 am and must be in a sealed envelope, clearly marked
“Single Axle Class 6, 4x4 Dump Truck, Bid # 20240105-1”.
Bid will be awarded following review by committee and approval by Selectboard. Pricing for
Any Submitted Bid Must Be Guaranteed for 90 days from bid opening.

Price.
