MILL CREEK NO. 1 CONTRACT 3 SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS
August 5, 2020
This addendum adds, changes, or clarifies the following:
ADDENDA TO THE BIDDING AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS:
1. Bid Form: Replace the original bid form in its entirety with the bid form included in this
addendum.
2. Section 01100
A. Section 1.13, Paragraph G, Sanitary Sewer Pipe Construction, Items 1.02 – 1.04, add
the following sentence after the first paragraph:
“As required in “Addenda to Drawings” item 2 below, restrained joint integral bell
pipe shall be provided for sanitary sewer pipe to be installed in existing or proposed
casing pipes.”
B. Section 1.13, Paragraph G, Sanitary Sewer Pipe Construction, Item 1.05, replace the
item 1.05 heading in its entirety with the following:
Item 1.05: 20-Inch C900 PVC Casing Pipe with 10-Inch C900 Restrained Joint
Carrier Pipe.”
ADDENDA TO DRAWINGS:
1. Sheets 4 and 5
All grades steeper than 5:1 shall be covered with Type 1 erosion control blanket per
Section 2956 of the Standard Specifications. An acceptable alternative to using erosion
control blanket on slopes of 5:1 or steeper is to utilize hydroseeding on these areas.
2. Sheets 8 and 9
For all pipe segments indicating installation in a casing pipe, the pipe to be installed shall
be revised to be C900, DR18, polyvinyl-chloride (PVC) pipe. The portion installed in the
casing shall be C900, DR18 PVC pipe with spline-locked restrained joint integral bells.
Restrained joint pipe using a coupling will not be allowed. This pipe material shall be used
for the entire segment between manholes A14 to A15, A15 to A16, and C2 to C3.
Carrier pipes shall be installed in casing pipes per Section 02445 of the Standard
Specifications. Sand fill will only be allowed for fill of the annular space between the carrier
pipe and the casing pipe if the casing pipe material is polyvinyl-chloride (PVC) pipe.
3. Sheet 9
A. Remove the existing label for manhole C-0 in its entirety and replace with the
following:
MH C0 (4’ Dia.)

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
1. Q: For access to the site from the south entrance with the gate, is it necessary to call
Meritex to gain access?
A: Yes, contact Mark Roseman for access to the site. He can be reached at 913-669-3281.
2. Q: Has it been confirmed that there is 2 feet of clearance between the proposed sewer pipe
and the Southern Star gas line?
A: Yes, it has been potholed and confirmed.
There are no further changes to Bid No. 2020-050 at this time. The pre-bid meeting agenda is
attached to this addendum for reference.
Acknowledge receipt and acceptance of this addendum in the appropriate space provided on the
BID FORM.

4) PROJECT REVIEW
Project Purpose: Project work includes the Enlargement of the Consolidated Main Sewer District
Known as Mill Creek No.1, Contract 3 Sanitary Sewer Improvements. This Work includes 4,830
feet of new gravity sewer with diameters 8-inch to 12-inch and associated manholes; grading
required for placement of pipe and manholes; and other appurtenant improvements.
a) Project Scope:
i) New PVC Sewer Installation
(1) 4,830 LF of PVC sewer pipe ranging in size from 8-inch to 12-inch.
(2) 20-inch Bore (68 LF) under Southern Star Gas Pipeline
(3) 48-inch RCP storm pipe (110 LF) and dissipation pool
(4) Pipe segments
(5) Grading fill for pipe cover using on-site borrow fill (See pictures of fill material in
Appendix B of the specifications)
(6) Line A above A3 and all of Line B are above caves.
b) Project Details:
i) Retainage: 10% until work is substantially complete.
ii) Special Conditions Governing the Work
(1) No blasting
(2) Permits: Contractor to obtain all permits not otherwise specified as being provided
by the JCW. The payment for permits shall be subsidiary to other items, with no
additional cost to the Owner.
(3) Work on Southern Star Gas Pipeline Inc. easement- Coordinate with Mike DeGraeve
on work plan. Will need at least 48 hours advance notice.
(4) Work on Evergy easement – Maintain 10 FT clearance of overhead lines.
(5) Annular Fill Material for PVC Casing Pipe – Only fill sand will be permitted.
(6) On-site borrow material pictures – See photos in Appendix B. These photos show
examples of the existing material but may not be representative of the entire borrow
area.
(7) CCTV of all Pipes – As stated in Note 2 on sheet 4 of the drawings, CCTV video
shall be required of all installed pipes located in areas of future grading projects.
iii) Availability of Lands:
(1) The construction easements are defined in the drawings.
(2) Access to construction corridors will be off Britton St. north of 99th St and off of
Renner through Meritex gate north of K-10. There will be no access off of 99th St.
