Inquiries/ District Responses
Before the solicitation inquiry deadline, the District received inquiries regarding this solicitation. The District’s
response to the questions follows in bold font.
1. The swing structure there does not meet current guidelines. Would you like to have it replaced as
well? No, please quote the items that are listed in the solicitation.
2. The time between the release of the rfp and the bid date is unusually long. This will make it very
challenging to have the product installed in the requested time frame. Any thoughts on moving up the
bid date? No
3. Is there a cost estimate or budget? No
4. Is there a start date for the project to begin? Yes. Is there an end date as well? Yes The dates are
listed in the Bid under Project Schedule.

5. Can you get us photos of the equipment that is being removed at both schools? If not, can we go by to
take pictures of the equipment so that we can properly price this project? No photos will be provided.
You can go to the school to look at the existing equipment. You need to “Check-in” with the main
office upon arrival at the school.
6. Will we as the playground provider be responsible for replacing the mulch in both existing playground
areas? As I'm sure you know, when we tear out the old equipment it is going to destroy the existing
mulch. No, the contractor will not be required to replace the playground mulch.
7. The documents refer to a business license. Is this a business license for the state, Greenville County, or
each city that these projects are happening? The contractor is responsible for securing any licenses
that are required for the project.
8. I see some verbiage about concrete sidewalks, but I don't see any details for that in the scope of work.
Are concrete sidewalks part of the bid? Concrete sidewalks are not part of the bid. The contractor is
responsible for any damage to the existing sidewalks.
9. What is the surfacing requested for the playgrounds? Is it wood chips, or poured in place rubber?
The playground fall surface is IPEMA certified, engineered mulch/wood chips.
10. Is there a time I can arrange to do site visits for Bethel and Lake Forest? I want to bid the jobs but I have
to see the job site in order to do that properly. This information is listed in the Bid in the Scope of
Work/Specification under Jobsite Visits. A site visit is highly recommended for verifying current
site conditions and playground area. Job site visits are not mandatory, and are at the discretion of
each bidder. For security reasons, all prospective bidders shall, immediately upon arrival at a
jobsite, report to the site’s front office and present both business and photo identification at the
school’s front office and wear a site-issued visitor’s pass during the visit. Without proper
identification, no potential bidder may visit or inspect any project location. The District will make
no further arrangements for site visits. Note that a jobsite visit is an opportunity to review actual
site conditions: a jobsite visit is not an opportunity to make verbal inquiries. Any bidder not
adhering to the inquiry guidelines may cause their bid to be deemed non-Responsive.Bethel
Elementary - 111 Bethel School Rd., Simpsonville 29681 • Lake Forest Elementary - 16 Berkshire
Avenue, Greenville 29615.
All other terms and conditions remain unchanged and enforced.
Thank you for your interest in the District.
