Sealed bids will be received by the City of Hernando until 10:00 A.M., Local Time Tuesday, January 9th , 2024 at City of Hernando, 475 W. Commerce Street, Hernando, MS 38632 for supplying all labor and materials (as specified) necessary for Highway 51 at West Oak Grove Road Roundabout. All local, state, and federal special conditions and regulations will be adhered to. The work shall consist essentially of the following type items for Highway 51 at West Oak Grove Road Roundabout: 1. Roadway earthwork, grading, paving, pavement marking, signing, driveways, and sidewalk 2. Extension of existing box culvert and construction of new stormwater inlets and pipe The above general outline of features of the work does not in any way limit the responsibility of the Contractor to perform all work and furnish all plant, labor, equipment and materials required by the specifications and the drawings referred to therein. Bidders are expected to inspect the site of the work as provided in the Instructions to Bidders and to inform themselves of all local conditions. A Notice of Award is anticipated to be issued on January 16th, 2024. A Notice to Proceed date is anticipated to be set on February 19th, 2024. Contract time shall be 164 consecutive calendar days from the effective date shown in the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages will be assessed for each consecutive calendar day thereafter in the amount of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00). Additionally, whether or not liquidated damages are being assessed, Highway 51 and West Oak Grove Road must be open to traffic in all directions on weekdays from August 1st, 2024 to August 15th, 2024. Special Damages - In addition to the amounts provided for liquidated damages, Contractor, in the event of such default, shall pay to the Owner the actual costs reasonably incurred by Owner for engineering and inspection forces employed on the work after the time stipulated for completion of the work. Bidder must be qualified under Mississippi Law and show current Certificate of Responsibility issued by the Mississippi State Board of Public Contractors establishing his classification as to the value and type of construction on which he is authorized to bid. Each Bidder shall write his Certificate of Responsibility Number on the outside of the sealed envelope containing his proposal. The outside of the envelope should also bear the Bidderís name, address, and name of the project for which the Bid is submitted. In order to ensure that Mississippi's so-called Golden Rule is followed state law requires a non-resident bidder to attach to his bid a copy of his resident state's current laws pertaining to such state's treatment of non-resident contractors. Each Bidder must deposit with his proposal, a Bid Bond or Certified Check in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of his bid, payable to the City of Hernando, as bid security.
