PURCHASING DIVISION
NOTICE TO OFFERORS
ADDENDUM 4 TO REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) 25/2024: WEST ASH PUMP STATION
IMPROVEMENTS
Offerors shall note the changes stated herein to the above-mentioned RFP and incorporate these changes in
their proposal. Offerors shall attach a signed acknowledged copy of this addendum to their proposal, if
submitting a hard copy (via paper) or agree to the addendum electronically if submitting through the
electronic bid system on-line.
This addendum consists of the following information:
1) The following clarification/information has been provided by the City of Columbia:
Q1) Is the contractor to furnish the new motors and drives for the existing pumps? I could not locate a
specification or manufacturer for these, only 40 05 93 which describes the dynamic vibration testing.
A1) Yes, contractor is to furnish new motors and drives for the existing pumps. Reference Specification
Section 01 61 03 for motor requirements. Reference drawings 20D103 (General Note 1, Keynotes 2,3), and
20E601 (Keynote 2).
Q2) For the dynamic vibration testing of the pumps, is there a number of trips the contractor should
figure in the bid? It is understood the pumps are being switched over one at a time per the sequence of
work. There is added cost if the pumps must be tested one at a time.
A2) Contractor should coordinate with the vibration analysis firms listed in Specification Section 40
05 93 to allow enough trips to meet the requirements of the specifications. Owner will allow testing of
all pumps in one trip after installation of all new motors and drives is complete.
Q3) Do all 5 of these Vertical Hollow shaft motors have couplings connecting the motor and pump
shaft? Do any of these have a single shaft through the pump and motor?
A3) Contractor is responsible for coordinating the new motor to existing pump connection per
Specification Section 40 05 93 Section 2.1 Motor to Pump Coupling. New pump shafting shall be provided
for each of the existing pumps. Pump shafting shall be directly connected to the motor by means of spacer-
type keyed coupling, suitably sized to transmit the required driving torque, axial thrust and be easily
accessible for impeller adjustment, packing or mechanical seal replacement.
