Bid Addendum 2: April 23, 2024
The Torrington Board of Education would like to add an addendum to the TMS / Vogel Exit
Sign/Emergency Light Upgrade.
To: All RFQ Document holders that were present for the mandatory walkthrough on April 11, 2024
The original Request for Quote documents are to be changed, added, or modified with this
addendum:

A. Additional Cost for ADA Exit Signs:
Background:
During the review of the original plans, it has come to our attention that ADA Exit Signs were
not included in the original design of the buildings. As per ADA (Americans with Disabilities
Act) regulations, it is imperative to ensure that all Exit Signs are compliant with ADA
requirements to facilitate safe egress for individuals with disabilities.
Scope:
This addendum is aimed at incorporating the provision and installation of ADA compliant
Exit Signs into the project scope. The contractor shall be responsible for procuring and
installing ADA compliant Exit Signs in accordance with the specifications in Addendum 1
and outlined in the American with Disabilities Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and any
applicable local building codes.
Pricing:
Please provide additional costs per individual ADA Exit Sign. This price shall cover the cost
of procurement, installation, and any associated labor or incidental expenses. This price
should be separated from the base bid. Additional costs per individual ADA Exit Sign are
necessary due to the need for additional information on the amount and location of signage.
This will allow for a more accurate determination of costs associated with procurement and
installation, ensuring transparency and accountability in budgeting.
Responsibility:
The contractor is responsible for coordinating with the Director of Facilities to identify the
locations for ADA Exit Signs and ensuring their timely procurement and installation. Any
deviations from the specified price per sign shall require prior approval from the Director of
Facilities.
Timeline:
The installation of ADA Exit Signs shall be completed concurrently with the project timeline,
minimizing any delays in the construction schedule. Information regarding the specific
amount and location of ADA Exit Signs will be clarified after the bid submission deadline to
ensure accurate pricing.
B. TMS has eight Exit Signs with emergency lights located in the stage area.
C. Vogel Wetmore has 12 Areas of Refuge signs.
D. TMS does not have Area of Refuge signs applicable to this bid.
E. Bids are not required to be submitted online.
Bids will be due back to the address listed, sealed, and marked Exit Sign/Emergency Light
Upgrade to Torrington Middle School and Vogel-Wetmore School, Torrington Administration
Building, 355 Migeon Ave., Torrington, CT 06790, by April 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at which time
they will be opened and read aloud.
