The City of Calgary (“The City”) has several centrifuges manufactured by Andritz separation Inc. at both the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants (“plants”) that are critical equipment for residual treatment. The centrifuges require regular service and parts due to life-cycle upkeep and/or equipment failures throughout the plants.

Centrifuges are used in the Water Treatment process in the residuals treatment facility to dewater thickened solids (sludge) from the flocculated solids produced during the flocculator stage where polymers are added. The dewatering liquid is discharged to the sanitary sewer while the thickened solids (sludge) is trucked to the landfill. Centrifuges are used in the Wastewater Treatment process in the Dewatering Building to dewater biosolids. Digested sludge is fed into the centrifuges and is separated into a dense dewatered biosolids cake and a dilute reject stream (centrate). The dewatered biosolids from the Dewatering Building is directed to The City’s Composting Faciity and other beneficial reuses.

Notice is hereby given by The City of Calgary (“The City”) wishes to enter into contract with Andritz Separation Inc., for the provision of centrifuge maintenance parts and services for the next five (5) years.

It is the intent of The City to award this contract for the following reason(s):

• As per the following New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) Exceptions:
(g) where it can be demonstrated that only one supplier is able to meet the requirements of a procurement.
