This is a good point that I will bring up with the standards committee to fix. STD Dwg 216 only references STD Dwg 234 for joint details, but STD Dwg 234 is where you see the 6” type II aggregate base under ‘L’ Curb and Gutter callout.

The purpose of the mill and UTACS is to mend the pavement under the ex median when removed. This area is larger than required to allow for a good product and will require the UTACS to be placed before a small portion of the tack-on median. If you need more clarification or were planning another method please let us know and we will look into it.

Uniformed officer means a metro police officer. Please note this is only required in certain circumstances such as if you would be needing a flagger at a signalized intersection or if something happens causing the signal to go dark. In circumstances such as the ones given a metro officer would be needed to direct traffic.

Work in the right of way needs to conform to the special provisions and the unified standard specifications from RTC (which our specials supplement but do not replace unless dictated that they do). An example of this is Standard Specification Section 107.07 paragraph E – “Vehicular access to residential driveways shall be maintained to the property line except when necessary construction precludes such access for reasonable periods of time. If backfill has been completed to such extent that safe access may be provided, and the street is opened to local traffic, the Contractor shall immediately clear the street and driveways and provide and maintain access”. Clark County does not allow closures of side streets unless requested and approved by the Director of Public Works and this is not allowed very often. Approach closures will need to be coordinated with Clark County and properties.

We have recalculated the PBS quantity and we typically bump our quantity up slightly to compensate for the PBS overruns of roughly 5% on projects. This quantity appears to have been bumped more than our typical creating some extra quantity. We will evaluate this and may send out an addendum.
